About High Plains Biochar
We are a small family owned business in Laramie, WY. Rowdy is originally from Casper and met Christi while attending college at Oklahoma State University. Rowdy and Christi have a daughter Paige who is 10. We recently moved our operation from Chadron to Laramie. After watching so many of the wood resources in the region not being utilized we decided to find a use for all this biomass.
From forest fires, beetle kill, storm cleanup, parks departments, and other local business there is an enormous amount of woody biomass removed from local forests but much of it isn't utilized, that's where we come in. We take this underutilized resource and turn wood waste into heat and a value added agricultural product called biochar which is just a fancy name for charcoal.
We have been manufacturing biochar for the last 3 years and have biochar in about half the country via online sales as well as places like South Sioux City, Lincoln, Chadron, and Kearney in Nebraska. We have testing projects going on for projects such as tree planting in Omaha, green roof in Lincoln, bean plots in Scottsbluff, Pennsylvania on a Christmas tree farm, and as far away as Massachusetts where our biochar is used to increase yields in cannabis.
